CB Ramkumar is an author, speaker, trainer, consultant, entrepreneur and farmer.

Ram is an expert in applied sustainability. Ram runs a sustainability consulting services company called The Sustainability Partnership. He guides private and government corporations on their sustainability journey, while factoring in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and the national Climate Change Agreements.

Ram is now developing a sustainable model for integrated agriculture, while implementing farming techniques ranging from hi tech hydroponic farming to nature identical food forests, in his farm called Rassba Farms.

Ram describes himself as a ‘passional’. Passional  is a term he coined  to describe people like himself – those who have relevant practical experience and have become experts in a sector. Passionals create new concepts  based on the foundation of their passion.

Ram is also known as a ‘revivalist’. He is trying to restore faith in all the progressive concepts of yesteryears that are still relevant to the modern world. One of these concepts is sustainable living.

Previously, Ram had been an advertising and marketing professional for two decades. His career in the advertising & marketing took him to global companies like Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy & Mather, Publicis and Standard Chartered Bank. He has spent most of his professional career outside India in the Middle East. Ram was a Shopper Marketing specialist with the Saatchi & Saatchi X team.

 In 2006 Ram developed a model for sustainable living, when he founded Our Native Village, an eco-resort just outside Bangalore, in South India. Ram had been researching aspects of sustainability for more than a decade before starting Our Native Village. Ram’s dream of developing a fully sustainable living model was put to test with Our Native Village. In a world filled with good intent, great ideas and eager consultants, the attempt at total sustainability in Our Native Village was recognised at the time of its inception, as the only commercial working model of sustainability.

 Our Native Village has since been recognised with global and national awards, and was featured in many of the world press including Asia Geographic magazine, MSN, India Today, Outlook traveller and BBC. 

Subsequently, Ram authored ‘Green Dreams’, a book on sustainability, was launched in India in 2018. The book traces his journey of a decade building a sustainable living model in Our Native Village. As a regular newspaper columnist, Ram authored over one hundred articles on climate change and sustainability. Ram has been featured extensively in the print and audio visual media over the last decade, thanks to his thought leadership in the field of sustainability.

Ram is a trained ‘Climate Leader’ after undergoing a training programme by the Former Vice President of the US, Mr. Al Gore, a certified ‘Sustainable Tourism’ trainer, with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and a certified ‘Project Management for Sustainability’ specialist with APMG International. Ram is also a qualified to ‘Unleash the 2030 agenda for the private sector’, having undergone a training with the United Nations System Staff College. 

 Ram is a Board Member and the regional representative for South Asia for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. In 2015, Ram has worked with UN Environment as a consultant to develop a policy dialogue for South Asia as part of the Switch Asia Programme of the European Union. Ram is the immediate past President and presently an adviser of the Karnataka Tourism Forum. He was invited by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to serve on the Planning Projects committee for Tiger conservation in the country.

Ram has been involved in events that have had a lasting impact on him and those around him. In 1995 Ram cycled across Lebanon raising money for 2 children’s charities in Beirut and Dubai. Following this, he cycled close to 4,000Kms across India from Jammu to Kanyakumari in the year 2000, raising money for the Neelbagh School, run by the Aashraya Trust  Bangalore. Ram and his wife had also started the Fertility Support Group and an informal Adoption Support Group when they lived in Dubai and continue to counsel those in need of help in these areas.

Ram is a regular speaker on Sustainability and Climate Change. He delivers motivational & inspirational talks based on his decades of his personal achievements and corporate experience.

Ram lives in Rural Bangalore on his farm with his wife Lalitha, with his daughter Aakanksha and son Akshay pursuing their higher studies in the United Kingdom.
